The spring is high time for brush fires, which can quickly spread and cause significant damage to homes, property and the environment. These fires can be unpredictable, fueled by dry vegetation, strong winds and warm temperatures. Over the weekend, ETVFD crews were dispatched to several brush fires, including a field fire in Oley Township.
To support the ETVFD's brush firefighting efforts, Deputy Chief Bob Hoover, as well as Firefighters Ethan Collins and Phil Ellingsworth Jr. recently completed the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' wildland firefighter certification course. The training completed Sunday with a full-day exercise in Luzerne County.
