John is a dedicated volunteer firefighter who embodies the spirit of service and community. With a strong family history in firefighting, Painter’s passion for helping others has led him to a rewarding career in both his professional and volunteer roles. John joined the ETVFD just over a year ago, but he's already made a significant impact on the department and the community. He appreciates the camaraderie among his fellow firefighters, noting that he quickly felt welcomed and accepted as part of the ETVFD. John was named 2023 Rookie of the Year at the department's award banquet earlier this year. John's journey in the fire service began at a young age. Growing up in a firefighting family, he was inspired by his father, a retired assistant fire chief. At just 14 years old, he joined the junior firefighter program at Blandon Fire Company. "As a young child growing up around the fire station watching the firefighters, it’s just something I always wanted to be a part of — helping the community in their time of need," John explained. In addition to his volunteer work with the ETVFD, John is an architectural designer and assistant project manager at Watkins Architect, LTD. When he's not working or volunteering, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, hiking, ATV riding, fishing and hunting. One surprising fact about John is his hidden talent as a holiday cookie baker. While he may not be a culinary expert, he's quite skilled at mixing and baking delicious treats. |
