On Sunday afternoon just before 3pm Exeter Fire was dispatched to the 100 Blk of Cinder St in Birdsboro Borough for a report of a furnace fire in a residence. As command units from company 7 arrived on scene they advised that there was smoke and fire showing from the first floor of a 2 and a half story duplex. The first in engine found heavy fire conditions in the basement of the affected unit. Engine 25 arrived as the 2nd due engine company and pulled a line from engine 7 and stretched it the the fire building. Shortly after that command confirmed that the fire had burned through into the basement and first floor of both of the adjoining units in the duplex. Both stair cases to both units heading down to the basement had burned through making access to the basement very limited. Engine 25 redirected their line to the exposure building. Both engine 25 and truck 25 were assigned to the exposure building. The fire was placed under control after a hard fought 90 minutes. During the fire a RIT team had to be activated for a firefighter operating on the roof of the home. No major injuries where reported.
